Mission & Philosophy

A structured and faith-centered approach to modern learning.

Alphonse Gallegos Academy exists to provide families with a more personal, supportive, and flexible educational experience rooted in faith, structure, academic growth, and strong community values.

Our Year One academic model combines an accredited independent-study curriculum with a full-day, teacher-guided environment where students receive daily support, accountability, encouragement, and individualized attention throughout the day.

We believe students thrive when they are known well, challenged appropriately, supported consistently, and allowed to grow at a pace that builds confidence instead of frustration. Education should not feel impersonal or one-size-fits-all.

At AGA, faith formation, character development, academic growth, family partnership, and joyful learning are all part of the same mission.

Our Story

Built by families looking for something better.

Alphonse Gallegos Academy was created by families and community members who believed there was an opportunity to build a more personal, sustainable, and student-centered educational model for Sacramento families.

Rather than simply recreating a traditional private school structure, AGA was intentionally designed as a K-8 faith-based academy that combines strong academics, individualized support, teacher guidance, structure, and meaningful family partnership.

Our goal is to preserve the best parts of faith-based education, including community, moral formation, discipline, service, and academic seriousness, while embracing a more modern and flexible approach to learning that better serves students and families today.

As AGA grows, we hope to build not just a learning environment, but a lasting educational community where students feel supported, challenged, encouraged, and inspired to grow.

Our Namesake
"A life rooted in compassion, humility, service, and faith."
Blessed Alphonse Gallegos devoted his ministry to serving others, especially children, families, and those often overlooked by society. His example of joyful service and compassionate leadership continues to inspire the mission and values of AGA.

Ms. April Peletta

Founding Lead Teacher

Ms. Peletta is known for her compassion, dedication, and commitment to students, leaving a lasting impact on the families she serves.

Like our school, Ms. Peletta believes education should not be confined to the classroom. In ninth grade, she left traditional schooling to help provide for her family, an experience that taught her one of the most important lessons of her career: education must adapt to students by meeting them where they are in life.

She went on to earn her Associate of Arts degree from Sacramento City College and her Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing from Mills College, where she graduated summa cum laude. Before returning to Sacramento in 2016 to help train educators and develop curriculum at the nonprofit 916 Ink, she earned her Master of Fine Arts in Creative and Critical Writing, with an emphasis in teaching, from the University of California, San Diego.

Founding Teachers

AGA’s founding teachers will work together to support students across our grade groupings while helping establish the culture, traditions, and educational foundation of the academy.

Our Campus

A calm, structured, and welcoming place to learn.

Campus Location
Alphonse Gallegos Academy’s Year 1 campus will be located at 2221 Matson Dr, Sacramento, CA 95822.

Alphonse Gallegos Academy is designed to provide students with a structured, supportive, and community-centered full-day school environment where they can focus, grow, build meaningful relationships, and feel genuinely connected to the people around them.

Our Year 1 campus is located on an established school site in South Sac and provides AGA with large classroom spaces, dedicated student restrooms, areas for academic support and enrichment, a spacious outdoor field, and access to a playground for recreation and physical education. The campus gives our students room to move, learn, play, and spend their school day in an environment that was built for education.

The layout also allows AGA to maintain its own dedicated learning spaces while benefiting from the resources and infrastructure of a larger school campus. Our classrooms can support multiple grade groupings, small-group instruction, individualized teacher support, collaborative learning, and the flexible academic model that is central to AGA.

One of the greatest advantages of our new campus is room to grow. As enrollment increases, additional classroom space may become available, allowing AGA to expand our footprint and programs without immediately needing to relocate. This gives us the flexibility to build thoughtfully as our school community grows.

The large field and playground also give our students something we consider essential to a complete school experience: space to be kids. Students have opportunities to get outside, participate in PE and organized activities, play with friends, and take a break from the classroom throughout the day.

We believe learning environments matter. Students thrive when their school feels safe, organized, welcoming, and purpose-driven. Our goal is to create a campus where families feel comfortable, students are excited to come to school each day, and our community has the space and flexibility to grow together for years to come.
