Mission & Philosophy

Educating the whole child through faith, discipline, and academic rigor.

Alphonse Gallegos Academy exists to educate the whole child through faith, discipline, academic rigor, and a deep belief in the dignity of every student. We want children to leave our classrooms not only better prepared academically, but stronger in character, more thoughtful in judgment, and more grounded in compassion and service.

Our philosophy is simple. Faith-based education should be reverent without being outdated, structured without being rigid, and excellent without losing warmth or joy. Students should be formed spiritually, challenged intellectually, and supported by adults who know them well and believe in their potential.

Faith and Formation
Faith shapes daily life, service, virtue, discipline, and a sense of moral purpose rooted in Catholic tradition.
Academic Excellence
Strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, communication, and problem solving.
Diverse Community
A school where students and families feel welcomed, seen, respected, and connected.
Whole Child Approach
Intellectual growth, spiritual development, leadership, compassion, and responsibility all matter.
History

Built on tradition. Shaped for the future.

Alphonse Gallegos Academy is being built with respect for the long tradition of faith-based education in the Sacramento community and with a clear vision for the future. We recognize the importance of schools that have served generations of families through faith, learning, service, and community life.

As AGA grows, our goal is not merely to preserve what was meaningful, but to strengthen it. We want to carry forward the best of that educational tradition — moral formation, academic seriousness, and close family partnership — while building a more independent, sustainable, and forward-looking model for the years ahead.

Our history section will be updated with a fuller school timeline, founding story, campus transition details, and milestone moments as those pieces are finalized for public release.

Our Namesake
"His life was a witness to compassion, humility, and joyful service — the identity we want to form in every student."
Blessed Alphonse Gallegos, born in Albuquerque and raised in California, devoted his ministry to the poor, the sick, and children with disabilities. Beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1997, he is Sacramento's own blessed — and the inspiration for this school's mission.

Welcome to Alphonse Gallegos Academy.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our school and the vision behind it. We believe children thrive when they are known, challenged, and formed within a community that values faith, excellence, discipline, and compassion.

At AGA, our goal is to create a school where strong academics and strong character go hand in hand. We want every student to grow as a reader, writer, thinker, problem solver, and person of integrity. We also want families to feel that this is a school community they can trust — one that sees their children clearly and takes their future seriously.
